What is a depossession?
Like an extraction, a depossession removes a misaligned energy, this time in the form of another’s soul. Betsy Bergstrom and her trained practitioners are generally the foremost in this field, though I decided to go with my Spirits’ instructions and not pursue further training beyond that.
How do we get possessed?
There are many ways, ranging from generational trauma to psychic warfare to self-inflicted. This usually happens out of carelessness and ignorance in modern society. Here are some examples:

An abuser may put part of their soul in their victim, also referred to as “velcro soul.”

We may feel jealous of someone and wish we had a particular quality of theirs, also known as “soul stealing."

I did a depossession for a client who had another shamanic practitioner accidentally return an ancestor's soul part during a soul retrieval.

Parents who try to live through their children literally rather than vicariously.

People who grieve so hard they cling to the deceased’s soul by keeping it inside of their own body.
