Animal Song Healing
Practices

Animal Song Healing, now a subset of Southwest Shamanic Connection, was founded in 2024.  It marries my soul-passions for animals, music, and shamanism.  It is the blending of 3 lineages:  Sandra Ingerman in the USA, Zara Waldebäck & Jonathan Horwitz in Sweden, and my helping Spirits.

While I have been trained by human teachers in a wide variety of common (referred to as core) shamanic techniques for healing, my favorite way to work is to let my Spirits create something brand new, custom for my client and what they need at the time.  This is partially why I put so much emphasis on percussive rhythm and impromptu song — unplanned, unfamiliar, and custom-built for the session.  Giving the Spirits a sort of “menu” of options is a great framework to begin shamanic healing, but it is not the be all - end all.

Origins

I took Zara & Jonathan’s Shamanic Healing course at Tokalynga, Sweden in 2024.  Their way of working involves a shamanic journey to see what is happening in the client’s world from my Spirits’ perspective.  With my client’s permission, I am able to use this diagnostic tool to create a healing method most appropriate for them in tandem with my helping Spirits.

This was an excellent follow-on from having begun Sandra Ingerman’s Practitioner Training earlier in 2024.  Her version of this is to work with a partner in a double blind capacity — you don’t know what their ailment is, and you don’t know what they want healing for.  You simply have permission to do the work with your Spirits.  The intention is:  to ask your Spirits to perform a healing that has never been done before.

In both scenarios, we had instant confirmation that A) our Spirits know EXACTLY what is needed at all times, and B) we really don’t do anything except follow our Spirits’ instructions.

Animals Make the Best Clients

While Zara & Jonathan don’t discuss working with animals so much, I was very fortunate that Sandra allowed up to 50% of my case studies to be on animals.  Animals cannot have a placebo effect, they cannot buy into a rationale.  They are incredibly open once you have their trust, and there is nothing blocking them from receiving like the complex human mind can.  I worked remotely over Zoom with a dog in France who could not settle, hadn’t had a good night’s sleep in months.  After the session, she slept through the rest of the day and overnight.  I worked with a horse in-person who couldn’t be groomed without becoming avoidant or aggressive.  During the session, her soul told me that she needed to sniff and approve each tool first.  I held out her brush for her to sniff, which she turned her head to do, and when she looked away, I was able to brush her without issue, as was her new owner when she followed this protocol.

I’ve been singing & stroking in a soothing capacity to horses, dogs, wild animals, and my cat since I was a very little girl.  It’s part of why I became a horse trainer and eventually a dog trainer.  I didn’t know it was a shamanic practice I was using to relate to animals so well, it’s just something that came to me instinctually and intuitively.  I actually assumed everyone could do it until I was an adult and had several folks inform me they couldn’t/didn't. Learning more techniques for working with animals in this healing capacity was a very natural evolution for me as part of my training and professional practice.
